Ellie Goulding – On My Mind

Following days of merciless teasing and snippets, Ellie Goulding has finally released her newest single On My Mind. On Monday she posted a gif to her Instagram captioned only with the date for today, Thursday 17th September. Those who follow her across social media will have seen the hints of new material in the last few months as she posted the occasional photo of her in the studio.

Today the wait was finally over and the 28 year old announced that On My Mind was available to the masses. As an extra treat she also announced that her third album would be named Delirium and is expected on November 6th 2015.

On My Mind is that pick me up that we all need when the cold weather and dark nights start to draw in. With lines like “You wanted my heart but I just liked your tattoos”, Ellie manages to captivate all of the emotion of a slower ballad by telling the story of a bad breakup with tough lyrics to a fast beat. It highlights the unique sound that only Ellie can deliver.

This is the first single that she has released since the enormous hit Love Me Like You Do from the soundtrack for 50 Shades of Grey and it blew me away. It has everything that fans know to love from Ellie and it’s captivating from the first bar. It’s not a huge step away from some of her earlier releases but it has a certain maturity to it, which shows how far she’s come. I’ve had it on repeat all evening and I don’t doubt that it’s going to be a huge success.

You can grab On My Mind from iTunes and preorder Delirium now.
